Message from a visitor

Dear Suzuki-san,

Marijus desu (TOKODAI no gakusei).

First of all I would like to appologize that I am not writting in japanese.
And second of all I would like to appologize for a such a big delay of my email.

The whole problem up till the present moment is that I could not let myself write in English as I thought that writting in japanese is self-understandable. A must.

Well, Windows 2000 that I am using are English version. So even if I write using japanese characters, after sending such email, text becomes unreadable.

And one more thing, which I have to admit - I am simply afraid to write in japanese yet, since my knowledge of polite forms is not good enough. I don't feel confident - a thought that I could write a mistake and cause any kind of misunderstanding scares me. Therefore, I finally chose to write in English.

I want to appologize for both not writting in japanese and a very late response, one more time.

I would also like to thank you very much for your hospitality during the home visit, which was a trully big and pleasant event to me. Well, the time that has passed since then prooves it to be truth - the impressions are really deep. Honestly speaking, I can not forget the japanese sweets we were offered. Up till now I am surprised that it is possible to make such artistic looking delicious sweets at home. It was a proof to me, that it is truth when japanes people say, that it is important to eat not only with the mouth, but also - with the eyes...

One more thing I want to thank you for is our conversations. It was a big pleasure to speak with you, but the biggest impression was made by the fact, that I finally realised I can understand japanese and say at least something finally. Thank you very much for influencing my self-confidence in the sense of japanese language ability.

And of course - thank you very much once again for the very beautiful picture album. I am already using it :)

I remember you asking me about where would I advice to go to, in case you would come to visit my country. I answered telling about a TRAKAI castle, located in a small island in the middle of the lake. Here is the picture of it:

Also, in case if you would have interest to get acquainted with my country a little bit closer, I can offer you to visit a website www.lietuva.lt . Here you can choose one of 6 languages to view the webpage. Unfotrunately, there is no japanese language installed yet in that webpage. But let's leave it for the close future...

And also, I would like to offer you one more webpage. The following link http://www.kaunas.lt/english/index.shtml  is the address of the webpage of my city KAUNAS. Here you can also find some information or photos, in case you would have interest in it. By the way, one interesting detail: at the present moment a seminar, named "East-East" is being held in my city. Participants of the seminar are famous Japan's architechts. And you can find some brief information about them in the same webpage. Just an interesting and very pleasant coincidence :) Of course, it is a very big honour and a big event for my country to have such guests, participating in that seminar.

Up till today there were no more events in my daily routine, that I could tell about. Every day since our meeting I was spending at the university. The only thing that I have made - is I built a preliminary plan of where to go and what to see. And I chose that it would be interesting to get away from the city and dive in to nature at Kawaguchiko. Also - to see a mountain from a close distance, as I have never seen it yet in my life. The other place I chose is Nikko. I miss nature :) I am also thinking of going to see a Hanabi at Sumidagawa next weekend. But I am not sure yet. A big quantity of people that is going to gather there is something that makes me think better whether it is worth going there...

But one thing for sure - this saturday I am going to participate in the meeting of students from my country, who live and study in Tokyo. It seems, that there are 4 more persons here. And I am really looking forward to meeting with them as this will be my first possibility to speak my native language in last 3.5 months...:)

Thank you very much once again for your hospitality and very positive emotions I have gained from our meeting.

And I appologize once again for a long silence from my side.

Sincerely yours,

Marijus svirskas
